PULWAMA: Continuing its sustained efforts under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan (100-Day Campaign), J&K Police today carried out a series of coordinated activities across the district Pulwama, focusing on both enforcement and awareness to curb the menace of drug abuse.
As part of the initiative, multiple awareness programmes were organized at educational institutions including Future Pack School Shadimarg, Government High School Murren, Government Higher Secondary School Nihama, and Al Hilal Secondary Educational Institute Wanpora. These programmes witnessed active participation from students, senior citizens, and members of the local community. On the enforcement front, Pulwama Police conducted extensive search operations at multiple locations across the district, targeting suspected drug peddlers and identified hotspots to curb illegal activities and dismantle drug networks. During these operations, residential houses and adjoining areas were thoroughly checked for any NDPS-related contraband. Further strengthening preventive measures, inspections of medical shops were carried out to check for any misuse of psychotropic drugs and other controlled substances.
In a significant action, acting on reliable information, Police Station Pulwama identified illegal poppy cultivation at Chewekhurd. Accordingly, FIR No. 67/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered, and the poppy plants were destroyed on the spot after completing all legal formalities. J&K Police remains committed to sustaining intensified efforts under the 100-day campaign, with continued focus on strict enforcement, preventive measures, and widespread awareness to eradicate drug abuse from society.
