SOPORE: In continuation of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police further intensified its multi-pronged campaign across Police District Sopore by organising awareness programmes, anti-drug rallies, and enforcement activities to curb drug abuse.

Comprehensive awareness programmes were conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Rohama (Rafiabad), Government High School Vohlutra (Rafiabad), Government Boys High School Soin Sadnar, and APNA Public School Wadoora. The programme at GHSS Rohama was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore Shri Shabir Ahmad Raina–JKAS.

Students and teaching staff were sensitised about the physical, psychological and social impact of drug abuse. Speakers highlighted early warning signs of addiction and emphasised the importance of education, sports and parental guidance in preventing substance abuse.

To amplify the message, anti-drug awareness rallies were taken out at GHSS Rohama and village Trumgund, Sopore, where students and participants carried placards with messages such as “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life” and urged the community to unite against the drug menace. In addition, a foot march was organised in Sopore Town in collaboration with the Druggists and Chemists Association Sopore, which witnessed participation from officers of Police and Civil Administration, members of civil society and the Traders Federation, reflecting a collective commitment towards a drug-free society. As part of enforcement measures, checking of medical stores was carried out under the campaign to ensure compliance with prescribed norms.

J&K Police reiterated that alongside strict enforcement, sustained awareness and community engagement remain key pillars of the strategy under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan. Police reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance approach against drug peddling and to ensuring a safer, healthier and drug-free society through continued efforts under the campaign.
