GANDERBAL: Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse under the “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan,” J&K Police carried out a series of awareness and enforcement activities against drugs across the district Ganderbal.
A drug awareness rally was organised by Police Station Kangan in coordination with Medical Block Kangan, which commenced from Kangan Hospital and culminated at the SDM Office Kangan, witnessing active participation from police, civil society and the youth. Another awareness rally was jointly organised by the Jurists Bar Association and District Police from Government Degree College (GDC) Kangan to Army School Margund, aiming to sensitise youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
In the jurisdiction of Police Post Shadipora, a drug abuse awareness programme was conducted to educate the local population, especially youth, about the dangers of narcotics and the importance of a drug-free society. As part of the ongoing campaign, checking of shops in the vicinity of educational institutions is being carried out in Kullan to prevent the sale of any prohibited substances.
Additionally, medical shops at Kullan Market were inspected to ensure compliance with norms and regulations. An awareness programme was also organised at Government Polytechnic College, Hatbura, where participants were sensitised about the ill effects of drug addiction and encouraged to contribute towards a drug-free society. Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and urges the general public to cooperate and support in making the district drug-free.
