JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated Mid-Career Leadership Development Training Programmefourth batch designed for Young Managers of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) (fourth batch), bringing together participants from diverse operational locations for an intensive learning experience focused on managerial competencies, peer learning, and industry–academia collaboration. Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Dr. Atanu Mukherjee, General Manager Academic, Central HRD & Senior Faculty, Management Training Institute (MTI) SAIL graced the inaugural ceremony on online mode. Dr. Prakrit Silal; Dr. Lalit Pankaj and Dr. Pranjal Pachpore are the Programme Directors graced the inaugural ceremony of the training programme. The training programme consisted of 52 participants from SAIL plants across India.
The training programme commenced with registration, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the inaugural lamp, symbolising the beginning of a transformative learning journey at IIM Jammu.
Addressing the participants on online mode, Dr. Atanu Mukherjee, General Manager Academic, Central HRD & Senior Faculty, Management Training Institute (MTI),highlighted SAIL’s focus on strengthening managerial competencies and building a robust talent pool. He stressed the importance of cascading learning within the organization, encouraging participants to disseminate knowledge within their respective units and contribute to a continuous learning ecosystem. He also urged participants to document and share their insights through articles for internal knowledge platforms and journals.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research emphasised the importance of unlearning and relearning in evolving managerial contexts. He encouraged participants to actively engage in dialogue, co-create knowledge with faculty, and approach the programme with clear learning objectives. He highlighted the value of case-based learning and participative engagement as key drivers of learning at IIM Jammu.
Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, underlined the unique design of the programme, structured in three phases and refined through participant feedback. He emphasised the importance of peer learning, cross-functional interaction among participants from different plants, and Institute’s growing engagement in consultancy and executive training initiatives. He also encouraged participants to actively engage with the academic ecosystem and make full use of the institute’s learning environment and resources.
In his welcome address, Dr. Lalit Pankaj, Programme Director, provided an overview of the training structure and highlighted the bouquet of learning opportunities embedded in the programme. He emphasised that the curriculum integrates strategy, human resource management, and allied managerial domains, supported by project-based learning components aimed at practical application of concepts.
The session concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Prakrit Silal, followed by the National Song and National Anthem, a group photograph, and a tea break marking the formal close of the inaugural segment.
The programme reflects IIM Jammu’s continued commitment to advancing executive education through immersive learning experiences, fostering collaboration between industry and academia, and nurturing future-ready managerial leadership.
