ANANTNAG: Continuing its drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Police in Anantnag recovered narcotic substances in two separate incidents in Kokernag and Anantnag by arresting two accused persons.
Police Station Kokernag received specific information that an individual namely Gh. Mohd. Wagay son of Ali Mohd Wagay resident of Dandipora Phalipora, had concealed poppy straw in his cowshed. Acting promptly on the information, a search of the cowshed was conducted, during which approximately 5.57 Kgs of poppy-straw was recovered and accused was arrested on the spot.
Similarly, a police party from Police Station Anantnag, while conducting naka checking at Nandpora, apprehended an individual identified as Ashiq Hussain Malik son of Abdul Gani Malik resident of Bulbul Nowgam. During his search, 7.28 grams of charas were recovered from his possession. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
