KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Abhishek Sharma, today convened a meeting of district and sectoral officers to formulate a comprehensive Action Plan under the Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) for the border block of Keran.

During the meeting, threadbare deliberations were held on key developmental parameters, civic amenities, livelihood generation, and tourism infrastructure aimed at transforming Keran into a model block.

Addressing the officers, the DC emphasized that developmental interventions must cover every village within the block and be based on ground-level need analysis to deliver tangible, outcome-oriented results.

Focusing on the visual and ecological profile of the area, the DC instructed the line departments to renovate all government buildings across the block to create. He further directed officers to proactively institute scientific waste management systems to safeguard the local environment, alongside installing proper street lighting, standardized signages, and ensuring regular maintenance and upkeep of existing public assets.

To tap the border region’s scenic potential, the DC stressed the identification and development of additional tourist attractions and directed the Chief Executive Officer, Lolab-Bangus-Drangyari Development Authority (LBDDA), to collaborate with relevant departments to explore landscape development and aesthetic enhancement throughout the block.

Concluding the meeting, the DC directed all participating departments to submit their sector-specific, need-based proposals without delay so that a consolidated, outcome-oriented Action Plan can be finalized for prompt execution.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer LBDDA Farooq Ahmad Baba, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, District Programme Officer (DPO) ICDS Aijaz Ahmad, Chief Planning Officer (CPO), along with senior officers and engineers from Education, Health, Public Works (PWD), National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), and Youth Services & Sports (YSS).
