• MLAs of Basohli, Bani, Billawar and Hiranagar complete Self-Enumeration

KATHUA: With the commencement of the Self-Enumeration phase of Census 2027, the District Administration Kathua today launched a widespread awareness campaign across the district to encourage maximum public participation in the exercise being conducted from May 17 to May 31, 2026 across Jammu and Kashmir.

As part of the initiative, special awareness camps were organized at multiple locations across Kathua by the designated Charge Officers to educate citizens about the importance and process of self-enumeration. The camps aimed to facilitate public understanding of the digital self-enumeration process and ensure smooth participation from the comfort of their homes.

During the awareness programmes, officers sensitized the masses about the step-by-step procedure for self-enumeration and highlighted the significance of accurate and timely participation in the national census exercise. Public representatives also actively participated in the camps and appealed to the people to extend full cooperation in making the exercise successful.

MLA Basohli, Darshan Kumar, MLA Bani, Rameshwar Singh, MLA Billawar Satish Sharma and MLA Hiranagar, Vijay Kumar, also successfully completed their self-enumeration during the drive. The district administration team assisted and explained the complete step-by-step procedure for the digital self-enumeration process. The public representatives appreciated the initiative and appealed to the people to actively participate in the exercise for accurate and inclusive census coverage.

The officers informed that self-enumeration enables residents to submit their census details digitally in a secure and convenient manner, thereby improving efficiency and transparency in data collection.

The Principal Census Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kathua Rajesh Sharma urged all eligible residents to take part in the exercise within the stipulated period and contribute towards the successful conduct of Census 2027. Citizens were also advised to seek assistance from the designated officials in case of any difficulty during the process.
