• Public outreach intensified under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

BARAMULLA: In a continued effort to strengthen police-public relations and ensure responsive policing, J&K Police organized Thana Diwas/PCPG (Police Community Partnership Group) meetings across multiple locations in the district Baramulla. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from local elders, respected citizens, youth, and members of civil society.

The meetings were held at Khadinyar, Dangerpora, Cheradari, Hardkhal Gulistan, Iqbal Colony, Chinnad, Faqirwani, Ghat Gopalan, Alambal, Kastoori Mohalla, Mirchimar, Tantrapora, Pathanpora, Aglar, Sultanpora, Doulatpora, Nagbal, Kalantra Bala, Chandbugh, Katipora, Warpora, Rambilpora, Nagin-3, Babareshi, Basgran, Niloosa, Silkote, Maidanan, Lachipora A & B, Nawarunda and Sarai. During these interactions, police officers sensitized participants about newly introduced criminal laws and procedures, highlighting the importance of legal awareness among the public. Special focus was laid on the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, wherein citizens were urged to play an active role in eradicating drug abuse and guiding the youth towards a healthy and constructive lifestyle.

The forums provided an open platform for the public to raise their concerns and grievances. Key issues highlighted included irregular electricity supply, demand for construction of bunkers in vulnerable areas, early blacktopping of roads, repair of irrigation canals, and concerns regarding the movement of wild animals, particularly leopards, in residential areas during night hours.

The need for installation of cages by the Wildlife Department was also emphasized. All issues raised were attentively heard and documented by the officers present. The participants were assured that their grievances would be taken up with the concerned departments for timely and appropriate redressal.

Police reaffirmed its commitment to community-centric policing and urged citizens to maintain close coordination with law enforcement agencies. The public was also encouraged to actively support initiatives like Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to ensure a safe, peaceful, and drug-free society.
