REASI: The District Legal Services Authority Reasi, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, on Monday organized a series of legal awareness programmes across the District. Awareness programme on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 was held at Government Higher Secondary School-Salal. The participants were sensitized to the legal consequences of child marriage, the key provisions of the Act and the importance of education, health and holistic development of children. Information was also provided about free legal aid services offered by DLSA Reasi and the role of Legal Services Authorities in safeguarding the rights of women and children.
An awareness programme on âSave the Environmentâ was organized at Government Middle School- Katra. The programme aimed to sensitize students about environmental protection, conservation of natural resources and the collective responsibility of citizens to maintain ecological balance. Emphasis was laid on tree plantation, reduction of plastic use, proper waste management and preservation of the natural environment for future generations.
An Essay Writing Competition-cum-Awareness Programme on âRights of Childrenâ was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Katra, in which ten students participated. The students highlighted the child rights, including the right to education, protection from abuse, prevention of child labour and child marriage and the need for a safe and nurturing environment. The initiative aimed to create legal awareness among young minds and encourage them to actively participate in protecting child rights.
Further, an awareness programme on Traffic Rules was conducted at the Bus Stand, Katra, in collaboration with Traffic Police Reasi. District Traffic Inspector Reasi, Navneet Verma, was the resource person. Drivers, conductors and the general public were educated about basic traffic rules and road safety measures.
Additionally, door-to-door awareness programmes on Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and the Government Welfare Schemes were conducted at Ransoo, Mahore, Kunderdhan and Chassana. The programmes focused on informing marginalized and vulnerable sections about the benefits of mediation as an effective ADR mechanism and the eligibility criteria and procedures for availing government welfare schemes.
