JAMMU: At a time when farmers across Jammu & Kashmir continue to battle economic uncertainty, rising input costs and climatic challenges, the Union Budget 2026 emerged as a ray of hope during a massive and emotionally charged farmers’ rally at Jammu Border, organised under the Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha’s “Budget Samvad” campaign.

BJP Jammu & Kashmir State Vice President Mr. Rakesh Mahajan, accompanied by Kisan Morcha State President Mr. Rakesh Pant and Kisan Morcha State Vice President Mr. Prem Chand, addressed the sea of farmers who had gathered in large numbers, reflecting both concern and expectation from the Central Government.

In a forceful and deeply resonating address, Mr. Rakesh Mahajan stated that the Union Budget 2026 must be seen as a turning point for farmers, especially in border and rural areas of Jammu & Kashmir that have long suffered neglect, instability and economic stress. He asserted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has acknowledged the pain, struggle and contribution of farmers by placing agriculture at the heart of national policy-making.

Mr. Mahajan elaborated on key provisions of the budget related to agriculture, horticulture, nut crops, MSP support, modern farming technology, disaster relief and rural infrastructure, emphasizing that these measures are aimed at restoring dignity, security and sustainability to the farming community of Jammu & Kashmir. He said the budget is not merely about numbers, but about protecting livelihoods and securing the future of farmers’ families.

Striking a serious and urgent note, Mr. Mahajan called upon BJP Kisan Morcha workers to act as the final bridge between policy and people. He directed party functionaries to take Prime Minister Modi’s relentless efforts to the grassroots, ensuring that no farmer is left unaware or deprived of the benefits announced in the budget. “This is a responsibility, not a ritual,” he remarked, urging workers to stand shoulder to shoulder with farmers.

Importantly, Mr. Mahajan highlighted that the Union Budget has also recognised the critical role of women in agriculture. He stated that provisions supporting women farmers, self-help groups, agri-entrepreneurship and allied agricultural activities will strengthen rural households and empower women who silently carry the burden of farming alongside men. “Empowering women farmers means empowering entire villages,” he added.

Kisan Morcha State President Mr. Rakesh Pant, addressing the rally, said the budget reflects the BJP’s unwavering commitment to farmers who have faced years of uncertainty. He emphasized that the Central Government has chosen reform and resilience over populism, ensuring long-term stability for agriculture and rural economy.

The rally witnessed the presence of senior BJP Kisan Morcha leaders, office bearers and a massive turnout of farmers, turning the event into a powerful collective voice of hope, concern and determination.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Kisan Morcha State Vice President Mr. Prem Chand, who thanked the farmers for their faith, the leadership for its guidance, and party workers for their dedication in making the rally impactful and meaningful.
