JAMMU: The second day of the three-day Orientation Programme for the 6th Batch of the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM 2026–31) at the Indian Institute of Management Jammu on 2nd Sept 2026 continued with a diverse set of sessions designed to provide students with a holistic understanding of global exposure, technology, communication, professional development, institutional policies, safety and campus engagement.
The day began with an early morning session on ‘Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness’ by Mr. Sahil Mehra, Yoga Guru, under the aegis of Anandam-The Centre for Happiness, IIM Jammu. The session encouraged students to cultivate mindfulness, positivity and balance as they begin their academic journey at the Institute.
The orientation programme then moved towards international exposure and cross-cultural learning, with Dr. Kavita Yadav, Co-Chairperson International Relations, IIM Jammu, conducting a session on ‘International Student Exchange Programme and Working in a Cross-Cultural Environment’. The session familiarized students with international opportunities and highlighted the importance of cultural awareness and adaptability in an increasingly interconnected professional environment.
This was followed by a session on ‘IT Infrastructure, Policies and Future Plans’ by Dr. Prakrit Silal, Chairperson IT, who introduced students to the Institute’s IT infrastructure, policies and technological ecosystem, while providing an overview of future initiatives and developments.
Students were subsequently introduced to the Language Lab at IIM Jammu by Dr. Apoorva Shekher and Dr. Mythiri B., Area Coordinators, Business Communication, who highlighted the importance of language proficiency and effective communication in enhancing academic, professional and interpersonal effectiveness. The session emphasised communicating ideas with clarity, listening with purpose and engaging confidently with diverse audiences, while familiarising students with the Language Lab as a resource for strengthening their communication skills and confidence.
Mr. Ovais Rehman, Associate Director, Wipro, emphasized the need for young professionals to remain adaptable and future-ready in an increasingly technology-driven workplace. He highlighted the growing importance of AI readiness, effective communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and cross-functional learning, while underscoring that the right attitude, continuous upskilling and the ability to build trust are essential for long-term professional and leadership success. He encouraged students to remain curious, embrace change and continuously develop themselves to navigate evolving career landscapes and emerge as effective future leaders.
The post-lunch sessions focused on creating awareness about institutional policies, safety, dignity and responsible campus conduct. Dr. Harsha Jariwala, Chairperson, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), conducted a session on the **Policy on ‘Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH)’, familiarizing students with the institutional framework, awareness mechanisms and the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive campus environment.
As part of the Orientation Programme for the 6th Batch of the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), IIM Jammu conducted a session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Policy, led by Dr. Harsha Jariwala, Chairperson, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), IIM Jammu.The session sensitised students on fostering a safe, respectful, inclusive and secure campus environment. It covered key aspects of the POSH framework, including forms of sexual harassment, the role and responsibilities of the ICC, grievance redressal mechanisms and gender sensitisation. The session reaffirmed IIM Jammu’s commitment to a zero-tolerance approach towards sexual harassment and to creating an environment where every member of the Institute feels safe, respected, heard and empowered.
This was followed by a sensitisation session on ‘Anti-Ragging’ by Dr. Kapil Gumte, Chairperson, Anti-Ragging Committee, IIM Jammu. The session familiarised students with the Institute’s zero-tolerance approach towards ragging and emphasised mutual respect, dignity, empathy and responsible conduct in fostering a safe, inclusive and positive campus community.
As part of the IPM 06 Orientation Programme, IIM Jammu organised a session on “Be a Job Creator rather than a Job Seeker” by Shri Hasit Singh Sachdeva, Proprietor, R. P. Steels, coordinated by Dr. Naveen Goyal, Faculty, IIM Jammu. The session encouraged students to embrace entrepreneurship, take ownership of their journey, navigate challenges with resilience and look beyond conventional career pathways by developing the mindset to create opportunities and generate meaningful impact.
The day concluded with an engaging Interaction with the Student Council, Clubs and Committees, coordinated by Prof. Neeraj Soni, Chairperson, Student Affairs. The interaction provided students with an opportunity to understand the various student-led platforms, clubs and committees at the Institute and explore avenues for participation, leadership and community engagement.
The second day of the Orientation Programme further strengthened the foundation laid on the first day, bringing together well-being, international exposure, technology, communication, industry interaction, safety, responsible campus citizenship, entrepreneurship and student engagement. The sessions equipped the new cohort with essential perspectives and opportunities as they continue their five-year journey at the Indian Institute of Management Jammu.
