JAMMU: The Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union will grant multifactorial leverage to India. This is no ordinary deal—it’s being called the “mother of all deals” for good reason, and it truly marks a major win for India’s global standing, said Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clear-headed approach to diplomacy has made this possible.

The FTA opens the doors wide for Indian businesses, especially in sectors that employ a lot of people and add real value—like textiles, medicines, specialty chemicals, seafood, engineering products, gems, and jewellery. With big tariff cuts and fewer regulatory hurdles across all 27 EU countries, our exporters now have a much fairer shot at one of the biggest consumer markets out there.

Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia further added that this agreement shows how far India has come. We’re not just reacting to global trade anymore—we’re helping set the terms. It will drive up exports, pull in more investment, create jobs, and give a real push to manufacturing through initiatives like Make in India.

For Jammu & Kashmir especially, this feels personal. Our local strengths—handicrafts, textiles, fruit processing, and small-scale manufacturing—can finally reach European buyers more easily. Better supply chains mean our artisans, farmers, and small entrepreneurs get new chances to grow, sell directly abroad, and link up with international networks. That could transform livelihoods here.

At a time when supply chains worldwide are shifting and companies are looking for stable, reliable partners, India stands out. This deal builds even more trust in our economy and sends a strong signal to investors that we’re in it for the long haul.

It also fits perfectly with India’s wider goals—building deeper ties with Europe while keeping balanced relations elsewhere. The government has protected what matters most to us while opening up real opportunities for our businesses and workers.

In the end, this FTA is more than paperwork. From better roads and digital growth to stronger manufacturing and exports, India is moving forward on every front under PM Modi’s leadership. This agreement is proof of our growing confidence and ability to hold our own on the world stage.
