SHOPIAN: Demonstrating exemplary promptness and professionalism, police in Shopian successfully recovered a kidnapped minor girl within hours of her abduction from the Chitragam area of Zainapora and arrested the accused.
The matter came to light when SHO Police Station Zainapora received a WhatsApp application from a resident of Chitragam Zainapora, reporting that his 11-year-old sister had gone missing from her home around 1400 hours. Acting swiftly, Police Station Zainapora registered e-FIR No. 91/2025 under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an immediate investigation.
Following coordinated efforts and technical leads, the police team successfully recovered the kidnapped girl in District Kulgam. She was brought back safely along with the accused Showkat Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Gund Chal Kulgam, who was found to be involved in her kidnapping. Necessary legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with the law.
