JAMMU: MLA Jammu West Arvind Gupta, along with BJP Senior Leader and former JMC Councillor Sanjay Kumar Baru, BJP Shakti Kendra Pramukh Bubesh Sharma and Advocate Rajan Radhey, held a public grievance redressal meeting with residents of Ward-41 at Colony Colony, Talab Tillo Bohri, falling under the Jammu West Assembly Constituency.

During the interaction, residents highlighted several day-to-day civic issues affecting their area. A major concern raised by the locals was the acute shortage of drinking water supply in various pockets of the ward, which has been causing hardship to the residents.

Responding to the issues raised by the residents and the former councillor, MLA Arvind Gupta assured the public that all possible efforts are being made to ensure a consistent and adequate supply of drinking water in the area. He informed that the tubewell constructed in the Chaman Vihar area, which had become non-functional due to technical issues, is now being made operational, with the tendering process for the pending works already initiated.

During the meeting, Arvind Gupta also addressed the concerns of residents living in flood-affected areas. He highlighted that the ₹1,430 crore sanctioned by the Central Government for disaster relief in Jammu and Kashmir is a significant and commendable step taken in public interest. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government, stating that this assistance will not only provide much-needed relief to flood-affected families but also help strengthen infrastructure in vulnerable areas.

Early in the meeting, Sanjay Kumar Baru appreciated the efforts of the local MLA for the implementation of the comprehensive sewage project worth ₹24 crore, which is currently underway in Ward-41 and adjoining areas. He, however, pointed out that the ongoing digging of roads and lanes for the project has caused considerable inconvenience to the public and has also led to accidents in certain areas. He urged the authorities to ensure proper safety measures and timely restoration of roads.

Sanjay Baru further requested the construction of a new tubewell at Hazuribagh to meet the growing drinking water requirements of the area, adding that land for the proposed tubewell has already been identified. Regarding the upgradation of lanes and drains, he informed that the matter has been taken up with the Jammu Municipal Corporation authorities with the intervention of MLA Arvind Gupta, and funds amounting to approximately ₹50 lakh are already under the tendering process.

BJP Shakti Kendra Pramukh Bubesh Sharma reaffirmed that addressing public issues remains a top priority for the Bharatiya Janata Party. He assured the residents that all the grievances raised were genuine and would be taken up seriously, and the party would work systematically to resolve them.

Prominent BJP leaders and local representatives including Onkar Verma, Brijesh Sharma, Kamal Kumar, O.N. Koul, Sudesh Pandita, Rajesh Gupta, Kartar Chand, Tandon Ji, and Harish Tak were present on the occasion.
