THATHRI: Under the able guidance and supervision of the Block Medical Officer (BMO), Thathri, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Kichloo, a Mega Medical Camp was successfully organized today at the Training Centre of Sai Education & Welfare Society, Thaman Jangalwar. The camp was conducted under the flagship programmes Rashtriya Kishore Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) and the Menstrual Hygiene Scheme (MHS), with the objective of promoting adolescent health and wellbeing.

The medical team from Block Thathri actively participated in the camp and included Dr. Sunali Gupta (Medical Officer), Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Ganai (Medical Officer), Dr. Nadeem and Dr. Ikhlaq (Medical Officers, RBSK), Dr. Shazia (NCD), Ms. Rabhia (Ophthalmic Technician), Sh. Pinku Sharma (AHC), Ms. Pooja Sharma (AHC), Ms. Rinku Rao (NCD Counsellor), Sh. Mohd Irfan (DEO), and Sh. Tariq Hussain (RBSK Pharmacist).

During the camp, a total of 210 beneficiaries were examined and provided comprehensive healthcare services. These services included general medical check-ups, tuberculosis (TB) screening, haemoglobin (Hb) estimation, weight assessment, eyesight screening, and adolescent counselling. In addition to clinical services, free essential medicines were distributed to the beneficiaries as per departmental norms.

Special awareness sessions were also conducted focusing on Rashtriya Kishore Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK), Menstrual Hygiene Scheme (MHS), adolescent health, balanced nutrition, anaemia prevention, and personal hygiene, aiming to empower adolescent girls with knowledge and healthy practices.

The camp was personally visited and supervised by Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Kichloo, Block Medical Officer, Thathri, along with Sh. Jonson Chandail, Community Health Officer / Divisional Coordinator, Community Process, NHM. They interacted with both the beneficiaries and the healthcare staff to ensure effective, efficient, and quality service delivery throughout the programme.

It is pertinent to mention that Sai Education & Welfare Society caters exclusively to girl students, providing them training in various skill-development programmes, making the initiative particularly impactful for adolescent girls’ health and empowerment.

The programme was conducted smoothly and successfully, reflecting the coordinated efforts, dedication, and commitment of all the staff involved, and reaffirming the health department’s commitment to strengthening adolescent healthcare services at the grassroots level.
