AKHNOOR: In a significant tribute to the retired heroes of the armed forces, the People’s Hut Foundation, in collaboration with the Crossed Swords Gunners, successfully organized a “Mega Free Multispecialty Medical Camp” at Sangha Auditorium, Akhnoor. The event was held in honor of the 10th Veterans Day. The initiative, themed under the “Mobile Health Clinic Program,” provided essential healthcare services to Army Veterans and their families, particularly those residing in areas with limited access to medical facilities.
Broad Participation and Comprehensive Care in the camp saw an overwhelming response, with more than 426 patients receiving free consultations and treatment. The People’s Hut Foundation—a national-level NGO registered with the Government of India and Niti Aayog, led by Dr. Rohit Koul and Dr. Ritu Koul—brought together an elite team of healthcare professionals across various disciplines, including Gynecology, Orthopedics, Oncology, General Medicine, Ayush, Dentistry Ophthalmology, Pathology & Clinical Psychology
In addition to expert consultations, the camp provided free English (Allopathic) and Ayush medicines, basic health screenings, and vital awareness sessions on nutrition, hygiene, and preventive care. The success of the camp was made possible through the support of several premier healthcare institutions and government bodies including the Directorate of Ayush, Jammu which was represented by Medical Officers Dr. Sushil Kumar Bhat and Dr. Manisha Gupta, and Pharmacist Vijay Kumar Sharma, providing specialized holistic care.
Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity, Jammu was represented by a dedicated team including Mr Dinesh Sharma,Dr. Naren Khatri, Dr. Richu Sharma, Dr. Navneet Singh, Dr. Wahab, Mr.Navjot, Mr. Raman and Mr. Nikhil. Fortis Escorts, Amritsar was represented by Mr. Dheeraj Singh, Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Dr. Hitasha Bharat, Dr. Rahul Kumar and Mr. Romy Sharma. While as Sharp Sight Eye Hospital, Jammu provided specialized ophthalmic screenings led by Mr.Deepak Sharma, Mr.Sahil Sharma, Mr.Rahul Mandla, Mr.Vipul Tyagi and Mr.Vishal.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rohit Koul emphasized the foundation's commitment to the welfare of the veteran community, noting that providing quality healthcare is a small token of gratitude for the sacrifices made by the armed forces.

"Through this Mobile Health Clinic Program, we aim to bring specialized medical expertise directly to their doorstep, ensuring that no hero is left without access to quality healthcare."
The Army Veterans expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the People’s Hut Foundation and the participating hospitals for bringing multispecialty care to their doorstep.
