JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated the Young Officers Development Program (Batch I) for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited, a prestigious Government of India Navratna enterprise, at the Vedanta MDP Centre, Jagti Campus. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu.

Designed exclusively for NHPC, a key driver in India’s hydropower sector, the programme aims to strengthen managerial capabilities, leadership effectiveness, strategic thinking, and organizational development among young professionals. The initiative reflects NHPC’s commitment to nurturing human capital and advancing national energy goals, while reinforcing IIM Jammu’s focus on executive education, leadership development, capacity building, and industry collaboration under its Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C) vertical.

A total of 20 selected NHPC professionals from across the country are participating in the programme, contributing diverse experience and enriching the learning environment through practical insights.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson EE&C; Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson EE&C; and Programme Directors Dr. Manu Bansal, Dr. Vaseem Akram, and Dr. Kapil Gumte. The session began with registration followed by a campus tour showcasing state-of-the-art facilities including Smart Classrooms, the Vedanta Executive Education Block, and the Nalanda Library, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sanjeev Pathak highlighted that this is the first batch of the Young Officers Development Programme developed in close collaboration with NHPC. He emphasized its value in strengthening HR and Finance, fostering group learning, and contributing to holistic professional development.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. Kapil Gumte underlined the programme’s comprehensive coverage in general management with a strong focus on experiential learning. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and introduced key themes including sustainability, hydropower, leadership, high-performing teams, conflict management, and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Vaseem Akram proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of NHPC Limited, faculty members, and the organizing team. Participants introduced themselves and shared expectations, fostering interaction and peer engagement.

The inaugural ceremony culminated with the National Anthem followed by a group photograph.The week-long programme features sessions led by IIM Jammu faculty integrating case studies, simulations, leadership exercises, and strategic discussions to strengthen managerial capabilities. Coordinated by the Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C) vertical, the programme reflects IIM Jammu’s commitment to developing future-ready leaders for India’s public sector enterprises through meaningful industry–academia collaboration.
