JAMMU: With the objective of taking the key features and public welfare–oriented provisions of the Union Budget 2026–27 to the grassroots, presented under the visionary and strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Pahari District organised a Budget Chaupal at Billawar constituency.The programme was addressed by BJP Jammu & Kashmir General Secretary and former Deputy Mayor of Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria, as the chief speaker.
On the occasion, BJP J&K spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan and District President Gopal Kishan also addressed the meeting. A large number of local residents, party workers, social representatives and youth participated enthusiastically in the event.During the programme, the speakers elaborated in detail on various schemes and provisions of the Union Budget and highlighted its far-reaching benefits for different sections of society.
Addressing the gathering, Baldev Singh Billawaria stated that the Union Budget is fully people-centric, development-oriented and inclusive in nature. He said that the budget has been especially designed keeping in mind the empowerment of the poor, farmers, youth and women. He added that the budget will not only strengthen the country’s economic foundation but will also give fresh momentum to the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Special emphasis has been laid on infrastructure development, employment generation, strengthening the rural economy and reinforcing social security, he added.Reacting to the Congress party’s remarks on the “Viksit Bharat – Rozgar Guarantee and Ajeevika Mission (Rural)” (G-RAM-G), Billawaria said that attempting to link a public welfare initiative with religious sentiments to create confusion is unfortunate and condemnable.
He emphasized that issues related to national and public interest should not be politicised.He further stated that by announcing the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swarozgar Initiative in the budget, the Modi government has paid a true tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He noted that Mahatma Gandhi was a strong advocate of khadi, swadeshi and a village-based economy, and this initiative is a significant step towards carrying forward his ideals.Billawaria informed that under the Viksit Bharat Budget, the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swarozgar Initiative has been launched to promote khadi and village industries, which will generate new employment opportunities in rural areas and provide economic strength to local artisans and self-employed individuals.Highlighting the benefits for Jammu & Kashmir, he said that the budget offers a golden opportunity for the region’s artisans, weavers and handicraft workers to gain global recognition.
Under the National Handloom and Handicraft Programme and the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Yojana, artisans and weavers will be provided with modern technology, training and market linkages, which will help preserve and promote traditional art and local handicrafts.He added that Jammu & Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship are an integral part of the country’s identity, and the central government is making continuous efforts to connect these sectors with global markets.
This will also create new employment opportunities for local youth.Billawaria called upon party workers to actively disseminate information about the budget from village to village and door to door, so that maximum people can benefit from the government’s welfare schemes.Participants present at the Chaupal described the budget as one that strengthens the nation’s economy and uplifts every section of society, and expressed strong faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
