It is with profound grief and sorrow that we, at the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shikshak Mahasangh, mourn the untimely and tragic loss of two of our most dedicated teachers — Shri Sanjay Sharma and Shri Joginder Thakur, both serving in District Udhampur, Zone Kordi. On behalf of the entire teaching fraternity, I extend my deepest condolences to their bereaved families and to the larger education community that now carries the weight of this irreplaceable loss.

As we reflect on this tragedy, it is impossible to ignore the growing burden placed upon our teachers. Increasingly, teachers are being asked to perform beyond their traditional roles, often under difficult and unsafe conditions. The loss of our colleagues compels us to take a hard look at the administrative practices that impact teachers' well-being.

One pressing concern is the scheduling of mandatory training during the harsh monsoon season. This practice not only endangers the physical safety of teachers, especially in remote and hilly areas, but also reflects a lack of empathy towards their working conditions. We question the necessity of conducting such training sessions at this time of year, when travel becomes risky and infrastructure challenges are amplified.

The National Education Policy (NEP) upholds the noble principle of Acharya Devo Bhava — treating teachers as divine figures. If this is our guiding philosophy, then surely the convenience, safety, and dignity of our teachers must be prioritised. We strongly urge the worthy Director of School Education to immediately suspend all training programs during the monsoon season, and to mandate that any future training be conducted within school premises wherever possible.

This is not merely a logistical appeal — it is a matter of respect, of safety, and of acknowledging the critical role teachers play in shaping the future of our nation. Let the passing of Shri Sanjay Sharma and Shri Joginder Thakur serve as a somber reminder of the urgent need for reforms that value teacher welfare as much as educational outcomes. We stand united in solidarity with every teacher across the country. Let us work together — teachers, administrators, and policymakers — to build a system that truly respects, protects, and empowers its teachers.

May our departed colleagues rest in eternal peace. Their legacy will continue to inspire us in our collective fight for justice, dignity, and a better tomorrow for all teachers. Their unwavering commitment to the cause of education and tireless service to the community will always be remembered with utmost respect and gratitude.

Their loss is not only a personal tragedy for their families but also an irreparable loss to the entire education fraternity. In light of their supreme dedication and the unfortunate circumstances of their passing, we strongly urge the Government and Education Department to come forward with appropriate support measures.

We demand the following as a mark of respect and responsibility:

1. Ex-Gratia Compensation of ₹1 Crore to each bereaved family.

2. Immediate Government Employment for one eligible family member from each family to ensure their economic stability and future security.

This gesture will not only provide some relief to the grieving families but will also uphold the dignity of our teaching community, reinforcing the government's commitment to the welfare of its teachers.

We stand united in this demand and request swift action in this matter of utmost sensitivity and importance.

Regards

Devraj Thakur
