JAMMU: The brutal lynching of Hindu youth Deepu Chandra Das in Bangladesh has shaken the conscience of every civilized society and exposed the grim reality of growing religious intolerance in the region. Reacting strongly to this barbaric act, Pawan Sharma, State Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu & Kashmir, condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms and paid heartfelt homage to the deceased.
Pawan Sharma recalled that nearly 3,900 Indian soldiers had laid down their lives for the liberation of Bangladesh, and expressed deep anguish that the same land is today being stained with the blood of religious minorities. “This is not merely the killing of an individual; it is a cruel betrayal of history, humanity, and the very ideals of freedom and justice on which Bangladesh was founded,” he said.
Referring to media reports, Sharma stated that on Thursday night, a mob of radical elements brutally lynched Deepu Chandra Das after leveling baseless and unverified allegations of blasphemy. He termed it deeply disturbing that the perpetrators brazenly recorded videos of this inhuman act, reflecting the alarming rise of radicalization and the culture of impunity prevailing in the country.
Calling the incident a clear and chilling case of mob terrorism, Pawan Sharma asserted that violence in the name of religion represents the most dangerous form of extremism and must be unequivocally condemned by the international community. He cautioned that continued silence and inaction over such crimes would only embolden anti-human and anti-democratic forces across the region.
Pawan Sharma urged the Government of India to take serious cognizance of the matter, raise the issue at appropriate international platforms, and apply sustained diplomatic pressure on the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety, dignity, and fundamental rights of Hindus and all other minorities living there. He further demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible, so that such heinous crimes are never repeated.
“Every Indian who believes in humanity, justice, and democratic values stands firmly with the family of Deepu Chandra Das. This is not merely a Hindu issue; it is a battle for human rights and the conscience of the civilized world,” Sharma concluded.
