• Modi Government working with commitment for women-led development: Chugh

JAMMU: BJP National General Secretary and Prabhari J&K Tarun Chugh, today addressed the Mahila Samvad Programme organised by BJP Mahila Morcha at Karan Palace, Mishriwala Road, Jammu.

A traditional lamp was lit by Tarun Chugh, accompanied by, Sat Sharma, MP Rajya Sabha & President, BJP Jammu & Kashmir, Sanjia Dogra, General Secretary, BJP J&K, Nand Kishore Sharma, District President, Jammu North , Neha Mahajan, State President, BJP Mahila Morcha, along with Ayodhya Gupta, Urvashi Gupta, Poonam Gupta, Anjali and other senior party leaders.

Chugh said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women empowerment has become the central pillar of governance and development in the country. He said the Modi Government has transformed women empowerment from a slogan into a structured national mission through strong policies, welfare schemes and socio-economic reforms focused on strengthening the status of women across India.

Chugh said that the Union Budget 2026–27 reflects the government’s strong and clear commitment towards empowering women by prioritising women-centric schemes and initiatives. He said special emphasis has been laid on education, skill development and entrepreneurship for women, particularly those from rural and border regions. He added that initiatives such as girls’ hostels in every district, scholarships in technical education and support for women entrepreneurs are creating new opportunities for young girls to become self-reliant and contribute actively towards national development.

Chugh said that the abrogation of Article 370 proved to be a historic decision for the women of Jammu and Kashmir, who were deprived of several constitutional rights for decades. He said women of the Union Territory are now enjoying equal property rights and full legal protection under central laws related to domestic violence, dowry and workplace safety. Chugh said welfare schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana have strengthened the financial and healthcare security of women, ensuring dignity and social justice.

Chugh said that the Modi Government has taken landmark steps to ensure greater participation of women in governance and leadership. He said the Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam will significantly increase women’s representation in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies, strengthening their voice in policy making. He added that schemes like Mudra Yojana, Stand-Up India and self-help group initiatives have enabled women to emerge as entrepreneurs and job creators, particularly in rural and agricultural sectors.

Chugh praised BJP Mahila Morcha for strengthening grassroots outreach and connecting government welfare initiatives with women beneficiaries. He said empowered women are the strongest foundation of a strong nation and added that BJP remains fully committed towards ensuring safety, dignity and economic independence of women. Chugh expressed confidence that women of Jammu and Kashmir will play a leading role in building a prosperous, peaceful and self-reliant India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sat Sharma said that women are the strongest pillar of society and the nation. He stated that the Modi Government has ensured dignity, security and economic empowerment of women through strong laws against triple talaq and domestic violence, along with welfare schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Matru Vandana Yojana. He urged women to play an active role in nation-building.

Sanjita Dogra said that the Union Budget has opened new avenues for women, especially rural women, farmers, youth and women entrepreneurs, helping them become self-reliant and economically strong.

Nand Kishore Sharma said that Mahila Samvad programmes help connect women directly with government policies and schemes. He appreciated the Mahila Morcha for organizing the programme successfully and said women’s participation is essential for building a strong and developed India.

Delivering the welcome address, Neha Mahajan said that today’s woman is confident, aware and self-reliant due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She appealed to Mahila Morcha workers to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach every household.

Prominent leaders present on the occasion State Vice Presidents Neeru Anand, Prerna Nanda,  State Secretaries Sonia Thakur, Ritu Thakur, Poonam Gupta , Pooja salgotra, Saroj Manhas Ex Corporators Neena Gupta,Sunita Gupta, state, district and mandal-level Mahila Morcha office bearers. A large number of Matru Shakti from different districts actively participated in the programme, making it a grand success. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Tanika Sharma.
