REASI: Principal District and Sessions Judge Reasi, Khalil Choudhary today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of district-wide Mediation Campaign launched pursuant to the initiative of the Supreme Court of India to promote mediation as an effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism.

 The meeting was attended by all Judicial Officers of District headquarters, including Secretary DLSA Pooja Gupta, physically and those from Katra and Mahore virtually. Advocates representing Insurance companies with legal officers of concerned companies, Mediators from Katra and Mahore, LADCs of the District and District Manager J&K Grameen Bank, Reasi  also attended the meeting virtually.

The Principal District and Session Judge emphasized the role of mediation in ensuring speedy, cost-effective and amicable resolution of disputes, in consonance with the vision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. He asked participants to actively identify suitable cases for mediation and to motivate litigants to opt for mediation at the earliest possible stage.

 It was informed that the Mediation Campaign commenced in the district on January 2, 2026 and shall continue for a period of 90 days. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to ensure effective implementation of the Mediation Campaign, with the shared objective of enhancing legal awareness, promoting amicable dispute resolution and strengthening access to justice for all.

Meanwhile, the DLSA and TLCs organised a series of legal awareness programs. Awareness camps on Social Welfare Schemes and free legal aid were organised at Neoah and Mahore by PLVs of TLSC Mahore.  

An awareness program on “Legal Services Unit for Children” (LSUC) was organised at Government High School Kundrorian, Katra. The program aimed to sensitize the students and stakeholders to the rights of children and the free legal services available to them through the Legal Services Unit for children including protection, care and access to justice.

Adv. Rachni Sharma was the resource person, who highlighted key legal provisions, the child friendly legal mechanism and the role of legal services institutions in safeguarding children’s rights.
