REASI: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi, on Wednesday organized a series of legal awareness programmes across the District. “Bal Vivah Mukat Bharat” (Child Marriage Free India) awareness events were organised at Vijaypur and Mahore by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). The PLVs sensitised participants to the legal provisions prohibiting child marriage, the rights of children and the social, psychological and health consequences of early marriage. Emphasis was laid on the importance of education, awareness and community participation in eradicating the social evil of child marriage.
Meanwhile, the senior citizens were apprised of their Rights to Legal Aid at Panchayat Karua and Bhuttan-Tehsil Katra. Emphasis was laid on 5 Pillars of Ageing-independence, participation, care, self-fulfillment and dignity. A poem recitation event in respect of senior citizens was held at Government High School Panessa. The students recited poems in praise of senior citizens, encouraging the valuing of the life experiences of seniors.
