JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir General Secretary and former Deputy Mayor of Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria, held a detailed meeting with the Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Devansh Yadav, at the Commissioner’s office in Town Hall, Jammu. During the meeting, he raised the day-to-day problems being faced by the general public in various areas of Jammu city.

During the meeting, Baldev Singh Billawaria especially drew the Commissioner’s attention to the hardships being faced by people living in flood-affected areas. He stated that the ₹1,430 crore disaster relief fund approved by the Central Government for Jammu & Kashmir is an important and commendable step in public interest. Expressing gratitude to the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that this assistance would not only provide relief to flood-affected people but also help in strengthening infrastructure.

Highlighting the BJP’s pro-people and people-centric governance approach, Billawaria said that this fund should be utilized swiftly, transparently, and effectively for relief, rehabilitation, and improvement of essential infrastructure in the affected regions. He appealed to the general public to keep an eye on the development works taking place in their respective areas and to immediately report any shortcomings or irregularities so that necessary corrective action can be taken without delay. During the meeting, Billawaria also placed before the Commissioner the public demand for repairing non-functional street lights and installing new street lights in several wards of the city. 

Billawaria appreciated the efforts of JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav and his team in maintaining cleanliness in the city, describing their work as commendable. He stated that cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the administration but of every citizen, and urged people to use dustbins for waste disposal and keep their surroundings clean. He further said that although the tenure of the elected municipal councillors has ended, they continue to work in coordination with corporation officials to resolve public issues.

He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is consistently working at the grassroots level to address public concerns, and improving civic amenities remains its top priority.

Responding to these issues, JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav assured that all the concerns raised during the meeting would be reviewed on a priority basis. He expressed confidence that the disaster relief funds and the Capex budget approved by the Central Government would be utilized in the best possible manner, particularly to strengthen civic infrastructure in flood-affected and sensitive areas. The Commissioner also assured that the non-functional street lights would be repaired at the earliest and new street lights would be installed as required to meet public demands.
