JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the Leadership Skills for Managers Trekking-Based Management Development Programme (MDP) for executives of a Maharatna company with a valedictory ceremony held at the Vedanta MDP Block, IIM Jammu Jagti Campus on 14th Jan 2026. The three-day experiential programme was conducted from 12â14 January 2026 in the Lower Himalayas, focusing on leadership development through outdoor experiential learning.
The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jabir Ali, Program Director and Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, and was graced by Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, and Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Program Director, IIM Jammu.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu stated that multiple leadership dimensions were deliberated during the programme and appreciated the high level of participation and interaction by the executives. He emphasized that leadership today requires adaptability, resilience, and reflective thinking, especially in complex and dynamic environments.
He highlighted that experiential learning in challenging natural settings strengthens decision-making, teamwork, and emotional intelligence. He encouraged participants to take key insights and actionable takeaways from the programme and apply them in their organizations while contributing positively to society at large. He also expressed IIM Jammuâs commitment to continued engagement and collaboration with industry through advanced executive programmes.
Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu highlighted the role of continuous learning in sustaining leadership excellence and organizational growth. He stated that such immersive programmes provide fresh perspectives, strengthen peer learning, and enable participants to translate insights into workplace performance. He reiterated IIM Jammuâs commitment to designing industry-relevant and high-impact executive education programmes.
Participants shared their reflections and expressed appreciation for the comprehensive planning and effective execution of the programme by IIM Jammu, stating that the training addressed challenges and delivered outstanding learning outcomes. They lauded the IIM Jammu top-notch faculty, highly engaging sessions, and the continuous support provided by the Institute.
Participants highlighted that learning is a continuous process and noted that the programme ignited new perspectives and motivation, with faculty members remaining accessible beyond the classroom. Participants also appreciated the world-class infrastructure and described the Nalanda Library as the true wow factor of the campus, highlighting it as a standout symbol of IIM Jammuâs academic excellence and learning environment.Participants stated that the insights gained would significantly contribute to their professional growth and organizational performance.
The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants, followed by the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Program Director, IIM Jammu, who acknowledged the support of faculty, officers, staff organizers, and participants in making the programme a resounding success. The valedictory ceremony culminated with the national anthem.
The trekking-based MDP reflects IIM Jammuâs continuous pursuit of innovative pedagogy and experiential executive education aimed at developing resilient and future-ready leaders. The training program was coordinated and executed by IIM Jammu Executive Education and Consultancy.
