JAMMU: The United Nations High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health, held in September 2025, recognized outstanding contributions from youth and civil society representatives worldwide. Among the participants, Sushil Singh Charak, Chief Functionary, Nations Development Association (NDA) and social activist from Jammu and Kashmir, was awarded a Certificate of Participation for his active engagement in the UN side event titled “The Algorithm Will Guide You Now?”, one of the first fully participatory events organized under the auspices of the United Nations.

The event brought together global experts, policymakers, and youth representatives to deliberate on the role of technology, inclusive governance, and policy responses in addressing public health and mental health challenges. 

The certificate was received by mail on 03 Feb 2026 from Mr. Rehman Hassan of the Stanford Deliberative Democracy Lab and the World Health Organization Youth Council, recognizing Mr. Charak’s valuable insights and contributions. Expressing his gratitude, he thanked the organizers for creating a youth-led global platform for dialogue.

He emphasized that such international participation strengthens civil society engagement and highlights the importance of collaborative action in tackling noncommunicable diseases and mental health issues. This recognition underscores Mr. Charak’s continued commitment to public health advocacy, youth empowerment, and sustainable development, reinforcing his active role at both national and global levels.
