SHOPIAN: A 3 days Awareness-cum-Training Programme under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was conducted today by Health Department (District Surveillance Unit) Shopian under the Chairmanship of Chief Medical officer, Shopian, Dr. Arshid Hussain Tak, here at District Hospital (DH) Shopian, aimed at strengthening institutional and community response against substance abuse.

On the occasion, CMO laid emphasis on imparting the training at grassroots level to ensure wider outreach. He stressed proactive involvement of trained stakeholders in creating a drug-free environment and called for sustained awareness activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to safeguard the future of the younger generation.

During the programme, training was imparted to Nodal Officers, Assistant Professors and teachers to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective awareness generation and early intervention. The sessions focused on understanding substance use disorders, identifying early warning signs among youth, counselling approaches, referral mechanisms, and the role of educational institutions in prevention.

The doctors sensitised the participants about government initiatives, treatment and de-addiction facilities, and the importance of coordinated efforts between health and education departments.
