JAMMU: A SPIC MACAY Cultural musical concert was organised today at Central University of Jammu. CU Jammu keeps exposing its students to Indian classical art forms under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof Sanjeev Jain. This programme was organised by the SPIC MACAY Club of Office of Dean of Students Welfare. The renowned couple artists, Avinash Kumar and Rindana Rahasya from SPIC MACAY performed in the musical concert. They both are ‘A Grade’ artists of Akash-Wani, New Delhi, and well acclaimed for their duet performances on Moorchhana-Bhedam, also known as Jasrangi. Zahin Khan, Zakir Dholpuri, Sohail and Ujeet Uday Kumar accompanied them on the musical instruments.
The faculty and students of the University enjoyed the classical music and the aura created by the soulful performances. The programme was graced by the presence of the Registrar Prof. Yashwant Singh who emphasised upon the importance of programmes on Indian classical music in reviving the Indian cultural roots amongst the students. Prof. Ritu Bakshi felicitated the artists with the honours. The event was coordinated by the volunteers of SPIC MACAY club of the university, under the guidance of the faculty convenors, Dr. Nancy Mengi and Dr Bhavna Arora.
