JAMMU: Basant Panchami, a day dedicated to Goddess Saraswati the embodiment of learning, wisdom, and knowledge and symbolizing new beginnings, was celebrated with devotion and reverence at the Central University of Jammu. The celebrations were held under the patronage of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, officers, and students of the University.
The Basant Utsav commenced with a ceremonial garlanding and Saraswati Vandana, performed by faculty members and students. Students presented a melodious rendition of the Saraswati Vandana, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. This was followed by a havan, in which Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain participated with deep devotion, along with the Registrar and other senior officers of the University. The programme featured Vedic chanting by pandits, followed by the Aarti offered to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of wisdom and learning.
Marking the auspicious occasion, the new Administrative Block, Chanakya Bhawan, was declared fully functional. The building now houses the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat along with other key administrative offices of the University, signifying a major milestone in the institution’s administrative development. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of sweets, fruits and lunch among all those present.
