SHOPIAN: In an effort to sensitise the public about the growing threats of cybercrime and promote safe digital practices, police in Shopian organized a Cyber Awareness Programme at Police Station Keller.
The programme witnessed active participation from people belonging to different walks of life, including senior citizens, local residents and other members of the community. The participants were sensitised about various forms of cybercrime, online frauds and the importance of adopting safe and responsible digital practices.
During the programme, participants were educated about cyber frauds, phishing, OTP-related scams, online banking frauds, social media risks and other emerging cyber threats. Emphasis was laid on safeguarding personal and financial information and avoiding sharing sensitive details such as OTPs, passwords, bank credentials and other confidential information with unknown persons.
The participants were also advised to remain vigilant while using digital platforms, exercise caution while responding to suspicious calls, messages or links, and promptly report any cyber-related incident or financial fraud to the concerned authorities. The programme concluded with an appeal to the participants to spread awareness about cyber safety among their families, neighbours and respective communities.
Police reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens against the evolving threats of cybercrime through sustained public awareness and community participation. Such programmes are instrumental in promoting vigilance, responsible use of digital platforms and collective efforts towards creating a safer and more secure cyber environment.
