KUPWARA: In a landmark initiative aimed at extending healthcare services to remote regions, the District Medical Board Kupwara conducted a two-day special medical camp in the far-flung Tangdar block, bringing much-needed medical care to the doorstep of underserved communities.
The camp was organized under the directions of Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani, in close collaboration with the District Administration Kupwara. This marks the first time that a District Medical Board team has reached the remote Tangdar area, a significant milestone in the region's healthcare outreach.
On the inaugural day of the camp, a total of 162 beneficiaries were examined and provided medical consultation, with services ranging from general health check-ups to specialized assessments. The initiative was met with overwhelming appreciation from the local population, who lauded the efforts of the medical team and the district authorities.
“This is a historic moment for us,” said one of the local residents. “Never before has a medical board come to our area. We are grateful to CMO Kupwara and DC Kupwara for acknowledging our needs and taking action.”
The outreach camp not only aimed to address immediate medical concerns but also sought to raise awareness about health and hygiene practices, especially in areas where access to healthcare remains limited due to geographical challenges.
Speaking about the initiative, CMO Kupwara Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani emphasized the administration’s commitment to inclusive healthcare. “It is our duty to ensure that no area remains untouched by health services, regardless of how remote it may be. The successful turnout on the first day shows how critical such interventions are,” Dr. Wani said.
The District Administration has assured that more such initiatives will be planned in the future to bridge the healthcare gap in remote areas like Tangdar, reaffirming the government’s vision of equitable healthcare access for all.
