A Contingent of J&K Armed Police presented the Guard of Honor and the ceremonial function was attended by all the Officers/ official of J&K posted here. Meanwhile, the children presented a colorful programme In his brief address Rakesh Kumar Gupta greeted the participants on this auspicious occasion and stressed upon maintaining unity and integrity in diversity of our Country. Later Principal Resident Commissioner interacted with the Officers / officials of the house and distributed sweets among the people present on the occasion.

SRINAGAR:Â In a bid to give exposure to the local students Presidency University, Bengaluru held a press conference her in Srinagar. The conference was organized by the chairman and founder of Presidency University, Nisar Ahmad in which he announced scholarships and other facilities especially provided to Kashmiri students. Presidency University is a Private University, established as such by the State Legislature under a self-regulating act, 2013.

The University presently comprises of three schools, the School of Engineering, the School of Management and the School of Law. Professor Arun Kumar was representing the Presidency university, he said the purpose of press meeting was to make Kashmiri students aware the about various courses and scholarship schemes, which are particularly for Kashmiri students. While addressing a media gathering Kumar said that there would be a 25 per cent fee concession under ISR (Institute of Social Responsibility) for students from Jammu and Kashmir and will also provide help for the needy students.

âWe believe in quality education and thus we provide the students the faculty from the top institutions like IIT, NIT, BIP, IIN, ISP, and National Law University,âsaid Kumar. He added that we want to make students aware and give them practical exposure as well besides quality education. âI would love to mention that we get students from 23 states of the country and their safety is our responsibility,â said Kumar.

He added that we ensure the safety of Kashmiri students in Benguluru. As of now, the University has around 4000 students on its rolls taught by 265 highly qualified and domain-expert faculties, The Institutional Social Responsibility Initiatives by Presidency University extends a Special Status Concessional Fee Structure to J&K Students, for them to take advantage of the quality education offered at Presidency University. Accordingly, a 25% Concession is offered on the Academic Fee to the J&K Students in comparison the Fees Applicable to the Students Pan India. By this gesture Presidency University will endeavour to offer a window to students to evolve into quality education.
- Initiates cluster, state level skill competitions
JAMMU: In a first, J&K will send a team of skilled candidates for participation in the regional skill competition under World Skills India, which is an initiative of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. World Skills India initiative has been leading the country's participation at World Skills International competitions since 2011 and is responsible for selection, development, management and participation of Team India in World Skills International Competitions. With its secretariat in Netherlands, World Skills organises the world championships of vocational skills every two years in different parts of the world.

Under India Skills Competition-J&K 2018, JK State Skill Development Mission (JKSSDM), apart from providing training to the candidates, will be organizing cluster level and state level skill competitions in the month of February and March, 2018 respectively. Shortlisted candidates from the state level competition will participate in regional and national level skill competition to be held in April-May and June- July, 2018 respectively. The winners of the national level skill competition will be further trained and mentored for competing at World Skills Competition which is to be held at Kazan, Russia in 2019.
Appreciating the efforts of JKSSDM in providing exposure, guidance and opportunities to the youth to take part in skill competitions, Minister for IT, Technical Education, Youth Services & Sports Molvi Imran Raza Ansari said, âThe participation of the youth will provide them much needed platform and opportunity to exhibit their skill at different levels. By demonstrating their skills at local, national and international level, our youth will confirm that they are capable and equally skilled to compete at any platform.â âOur youth have potential to bring home laurels and all they require is proper exposure and guidance. JKSSDM will provide them training and guidance to exhibit their skill and compete at various platforms outside the state,â added the Minister.
Pertinently, any skilled person below the age of  21 years can participate in the competitions and online registration process has been initiated. Candidates fulfilling the criteria can apply online through JKSSDMâs website www.jkssdm.org besides aspirants can also obtain information about the competition and its requirements from different academic institutions of the state.
Mission Director, JKSSDM Dr. Peer G.N. Suhail said, âJKSSDM has already conducted a preliminary exercise pertaining to the skill competitions and based on the local expertise and infrastructure available, it has shortlisted 12 skill trades from the 52 skill trades prescribed for the competition so that quality participation of candidates in the competition is ensured.â At the most recent event, World Skills Competition, 2017 held at Abu Dhabi, there were competitions in 51 skills areas with close to 1,300 young people taking part and India bagged one silver and bronze medal along with 11 medallions of excellence.

NEW DELHI:Â A Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Syed Shahid Yousuf, son of Hizbul Mujhadeen Chief Syed Salahuddin, in a 2011 funding case till February 5. District Judge Poonam Bambaywal also decided to hear the bail application moved by Yousuf, arrested and currently in the judicial custody, on February 5. In his bail application, the Counsel for Shahid Yousuf said his client was not required for the purpose of investigation and no purpose would be served by keeping him in further custody.

Family sources told news agency CNS that the Judge was supposed to decide about the bail application on December 19 but that day, the Judge didnât attend the court. âWe have been passing through difficult phase. Visiting New Delhi and Tihar Jail is both wastage of energy and time,â said a relative of Shahid Yousuf who is languishing in Tihar Jail number 8. The family members and relatives appealed State Government to get the detainees shifted to Kashmir. âNIA is using dilly dally tactics in filing the charge sheet of Shahid Yousuf,â they said. Yousuf was called by NIA to New Delhi where he was detained on October 24 last year.Â
NEW DELHI: Executive Councillor for Zanskar Affairs Tenzin Sonam called on the Director General Border Roads S.K Srivastava at New Delhi today. During the meeting, a range of issues pertaining to road projects under execution by BRO in Ladakh region in general and Kargil District, in particular, came up for discussion. In a memorandum presented to the DG BRO, the EC requested for speedy construction of Nimoo Padum Darcha road which is in deteriorating condition with work on the project going at snailâs pace over the last few years.

The EC urged upon the DG to issue directions for installation of the required number of temporary belly bridges so that the stretch between Padum and Darcha can be connected within a monthâs time. The DG BRO assured o resolve the issue within due course of time adding that Bailey bridges shall be constructed over every small stream in the area so that Zanskar is connected with Himachal Pradesh by the end of September 2018.
Other key issues raised with the DGBRO included the engagement of a maximum number of local labourers in road construction works, deployment of sophisticated machines and posting of sincere and dedicated officers to carry out the road construction project of Nimoo Padum Darcha road. Sonam also stressed for early restoration of the stretches of roads between Padum and Purney which were washed away during the year 2015 Phuktal flash floods and construction of a tunnel to Shingkula.

DG BRO assured the EC that all damaged road stretches shall be restored at the earliest while as concerned officers would be directed to prepare DPRs for construction of Shingkula tunnel. The DG also informed that he will personally visit Zanskar during the summer months to take on spot appraisal of the ongoing works.

MUMBAI: Department of tourism   participated in the 3-day OTM Travel Exhibition which began om January 18 at Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre in which over 45 countries, 21 states and Union Territories and over 1,100 exhibitors participated. Union Minister of State Tourism K J Alphons in presence of Maharashtra Tourism Minister Jaykumar Rawal inaugurated the exhibition. The J&K tourism department has put up a beautifully decorated pavilion to present stateâs tourism products and attract visitors.

The J&K tourism was represented by Vice Chairman J&K Tourism Development Corporation Rafi Mir, Director Tourism Jammu Smita Sethi. Deputy Director Tourism Jammu (Publicity), Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir (Publicity), GM JKTDC Jammu, Deputy Manager Operations Delhi, Assistant Director Tourism Jammu also attended OTM. Besides, large strength of the members from travel and hotel association from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh participated in the exhibition to promote J&K as one of the choicest tourism destinations in India.

Large number of international and domestic travel trade buyers visited the J&K Pavilion to enquired  about stateâs tourism attractions and infrastructure put in place for the comfortable stay of the tourists. The tourism officials informed the visitors about the various destinations in all the three regions of the state. At the pavilion, J&K tourism department distributed publicity material among the visitors. The department also screened short movies on various destinations which mesmerized the visitors.

Director tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah said the department has kick-started vigorous promotional campaign to attract tourists to J&K in 2018. âTravel exhibitions like OTM attract international buyers from across the world. Our department is making every effort to promote J&K among the buyers who can bring tourists to the state,â said Director Tourism Kashmir.
