Letter to Editor ! 

Due to Decades Old, damaged and torn water supply pipes in area around Mast Garh locality  of Old city, Jammu  the residents of the area are compelled to use and drink this contaminated and filthy water. It is most humbly requested to the Chief Engineer, Jammu of Public Health Engineering  department  now called as  Jal Shakti department to look into this serious problem.

The C.E is requested to send his team to the Mast Garh area and collect random samples of this water supplied through these pipes from different homes and main supply pipes then get it thoroughly tested  in some independent  reputed laboratory to find out whether this water is fit to be consumed for humans. Though the local field officers of the department are well aware of the problem for quote long but for the reasons best known to them, they  hardly take any concrete action in this regard and serve only readymade reply of having no funds to repair and replace torn and damaged pipes that cross through lanes and drains of the city. Repeated phone calls and requests to the local staff of the concerned department remain unattended and fell into deaf ears. Hope, Chief engineer of the department intervenes and people get some relief.
