JAMMU: Central University of Jammu, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, Vidya Bharti Institute of Higher Education and Indian Language Committee, under the joint aegis of Ministry of Education, Government of India, organized an Indian Language Conference today in Brigadier Rajendra Singh Auditorium.
The inaugural session was inaugurated by the chief guest Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central university of Jammu. The special guests of the program are Padmashree Prof. Shiv Nirmohi, Dr. Gautam Mengi and Dr. Dilip Kumar and the program was coordinated by Prof. JN Baliya and Prof. Bharat Bhushan.
Firstly, Sh. Anirudh, the extension director of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, and Dr. Shashikant Mishra, professor of the Hindi department, CUJ recited the motto of the conference. Prof. JN Baliya, coordinator of the event presented the welcome address and explained in detail the objective of the Indian Language Conference. He said that the purpose of the Indian Language Committee is to take education in Indian languages to the masses. To fulfill this objective, such conferences are being organized across the country by the Indian Language Committee, Government of India.
Special guest Prof. Dilip Kumar in his address said that language is very important in the world. In nature, every living being, every creature has a language and human language has a special meaning in it. As far as language conferences are concerned, this type of conference will definitely give strength to the provincial languages and there will be progress in creative work.
Special guest Padmashree Prof. Shiv Nirmohi said that the language of Jammu and Kashmir has a special importance, because the Dogri language predominantly spoken here is related to the languages spoken in Himachal and Uttarakhand. There are many similarities in their grammar also. In his address, he described the similarities found in other Indian languages and emphasized that the true development of India is possible through Indian languages.
Special guest, Prant Seh Sanchalak RSS Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Dr. Gautam Mengi opposed Macaulay's English education system and stressed on saving Indian languages. Especially calling for saving the almost extinct provincial languages. He said that the language of our education should be indigenous. He said that education in Indian languages should not be done only in schools or universities, but the mother tongue should be promoted at the family level. He emphasized on bringing Indianism in education.
Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain said in his address that all Indian languages are scientific. Similarities are found in Indian languages. Therefore, it is very easy to learn Indian languages. He said that at present Indian languages have become the languages of technology and computers. The demand for Sanskrit and Hindi has increased in foreign countries. Therefore, the day is not far when India will develop itself in its own languages and become a world leader. He said that Indianness can be brought in education through Indian languages.
Finally, Controller of Examinations Prof. Suram Singh presented the vote of thanks, while the entire program was conducted by Dr. Vandana Sharma, of Hindi Department. Dr. Neelika Arora presented a peace mantra. During this, all the guests were honoured. After the inaugural session, the guests launched the “Meri Bhasha-Mera Abhiman” signature campaign. Observed the language exhibition organized by researchers and students in different languages and appreciated it for such excellent work.
In the second session of the conference, the speaker on the role of Indian languages in building a developed India, the necessity of Indian languages for socio-cultural-economic progress and education in the mother tongue was Prof. Ratanlal Talaashi (Kashmiri), Arvind Brahmanu (Gadayali), Sonam Paljor (Boti), Mukhtar Chaudhary (Gojri) expressed their views while the second session was conducted by Dr. Rajan Badyal, PRO, Central university of Jammu
In the third session, writing textbooks and reading materials for various subjects in Indian languages, preparation of school teachers for teaching subjects in Indian languages, preparation of university professors for teaching subjects in Indian languages, institutional initiatives for building the Indian language ecosystem. Bharat Bhushan Sharma (Sanskrit), Dr. Padmadev (Dogri), Dr. Parshottam Jamwal expressed their views.
At the end of the program, a drama was staged by Viraj Kala Kendra Jammu. During this period, poetry recitation, slogan writing and essay writing competitions were organized on the topic contribution of Indian languages in developed India and all the winners were awarded in the concluding session. The conference ended with the national anthem. Hundreds of students and language lovers were present in the conference.
