SRINAGAR: `Police organized several drug de-addiction cum debate & cultural Programme programmes in North Zone Srinagar & Hazratbal Zone under the aegis of Civic Action Programme.

The programmes were held at MPML Hr. Sec. School Babadem, Vishwakarma Bharti Women College Srinagar, Green Valley Educational Institute and Women College Batapora wherein, religious scholars, members from media houses, respectables, school staff, students, traders, citizens from all walks of life participated. SP North City, SP Hazratbal, SDPO Hazratbal, SDPO MR Gunj, SDPO Zakoora, Besides, jurisdictional officers, also participated in the programme.

The aim of these programmes was to raise awareness about drug menace and drug de-addiction measures, while emphasizing the role of Police and other stakeholders of the society in combating drug abuse. Distinguished dignitaries from various walks of life, college students, faculty members, and representatives from civil society organizations participated in the event.

The seminar featured insightful discussions, debates, guest lectures, cultural events, and interactive sessions led by experts in drug rehabilitation and law enforcement to reinforce the idea of drug-free environment in the society. Participants made a solemn commitment to unequivocally abandon addiction of drugs and actively work towards eradicating drug abuse from their lives and communities.

Director Youth Development and head of Police Department Drug De-addiction Centre Dr Mohammad Muzzafar also shared his experience and importance of de-addiction and the awareness thereof. Dr Muzafer elaborated on the De-addiction facilities provided by J&K Police across J&K. He also elaborated the objectives of J&K Police  including rehabilitation of those who are affected, through J&K Police Drug de-addiction  centre's prevention programs by taking deaddiction services closer to the community through religious places. The objective also includes to destroy the eco-system of drug de-addiction by tracing, tracking and arresting all those involved in its trade. Dr Muzafer also highlighted how police action is reducing availability of drug addiction in J&K.

The overwhelming support and positive response from attendees underscored the collective resolve to combat this societal challenge. These programs reinforced the commitment of District Police Srinagar in safeguarding the well-being and prosperity of the community.

Various students delivered speeches during these programmes who were later on facilitated by momentos, cash rewards and certificates of participation. Members of media houses were also facilitated by way of momentos. Chief guests, Guests of Honour were presented with momentos and appreciation certificates.```
