RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat today chaired a meeting of the District level NCORD Committee to assess and enhance the existing measures of combating drug abuse in the district.

The meeting served as a platform for a comprehensive exchange of ideas and strategies, facilitating a deeper understanding of the multifaceted approach required to combat and eradicate drug abuse from the roots.

During the meeting, the DC scrutinised ongoing interventions to tackle the drug menace head-on. He underscored the crucial importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, emphasizing the need for a united front to transform Rajouri into a drug-free district.

Recognizing the pivotal role of educational institutions in preventing drug abuse, the DC directed CEO to sensitize school children about the detrimental effects of drug abuse, adding that this initiative seeks to empower the younger generation with knowledge to make informed choices and steer clear of illicit substances. CEO Education was tasked with implementing effective measures to generate mass awareness among students, alongside ensuring proper counselling services.

Furthermore, sub divisional level committees on drug abuse were instructed to convene regular meetings to ensure  successful implementation of the anti-drug campaign. Stress was also laid on the need for proper monitoring of courier services to prevent their misuse for drug trafficking purposes.
