SRINAGAR: In view of the upcoming Darbar Move and to ensure the smooth, safe, and hassle-free movement of the Secretariat employees' convoy from Srinagar to Jammu, traffic restrictions have been imposed on goods carriers along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).
As per the restrictions, the upward movement of heavy and medium motor vehicles (HMVs/MMVs), including goods carriers, from Jakheni in Udhampur towards Srinagar will remain prohibited on October 31, 2026 (Saturday), and November 1, 2026 (Sunday).
Furthermore, the movement of goods carriers, including HMVs and MMVs, will not be permitted after 0200 hours (2:00 AM) from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Ramban, Banihal, Srinagar, and other destinations along the route. Similarly, goods carriers travelling from Qazigund towards Banihal, Ramban, Udhampur, and other destinations will not be allowed to proceed after 0200 hours on October 31, 2026, during the intervening night of October 30 and 31, and on November 1, 2026, during the intervening night of October 31 and November 1.
However, the downward movement of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) from Qazigund towards Jammu will be permitted in a regulated manner, subject to the applicable traffic management arrangements.
In view of these restrictions, operators of goods carriers, including HMVs and light motor vehicles (LMVs) transporting fresh and perishable commodities and livestock, have been advised to plan and load their vehicles accordingly to avoid inconvenience and ensure compliance with the prescribed traffic regulations.
The restrictions have been imposed specifically to facilitate the orderly movement of the Secretariat employees' convoy in connection with the Darbar Move.
