REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today launched the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign in the district, marking the beginning of the fortnight-long cleanliness drive from September 17 to October 2, 2026.
Since its inception in 2017, Swachhata Hi Seva has served as a nationwide platform for mobilising citizens, institutions and leadership towards voluntary participation and collective efforts for cleanliness.
The launch featured a Swachhata Pledge Ceremony followed by a Signature Campaign, with participants taking the pledge and signing in support of the cleanliness initiative, reaffirming their commitment to cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need to maintain cleanliness at homes, workplaces and public spaces. He urged officers and citizens to keep their surroundings neat and well-organised and encourage others to adopt responsible cleanliness practices.
He called upon people to make the principles of âReduce, Reuse and Recycleâ an integral part of daily life by minimising plastic use, reusing resources and ensuring proper segregation and recycling of waste. He also stressed the importance of plantation and preservation of greenery for a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.
The Deputy Commissioner urged officers, Panchayati Raj Institutions, educational institutions, local bodies and citizens to actively participate in cleanliness and awareness activities being organised during the fortnight and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and healthier Reasi.
Additional District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar, Programme Officer, ICDS Project Vijay Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Assistant Commissioner Development and other district and sectoral officers and officials were present.
