BARAMULLA: In a major crackdown on traffic violations, the enforcement team of Motor Vehicles Department Baramulla conducted an intensive day-long enforcement drive across multiple routes in the district on Saturday, with the primary aim of ensuring road safety and promoting disciplined driving behavior.
During the drive, numerous vehicles were inspected and violators were penalized under various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules. The enforcement team focused on serious violations including overloading, driving without seatbelts or helmets, lack of valid documents, and other safety-related breaches.
As a result, Rs.93,000 was realized as compounding fee/fine, and more than six driving licenses were suspended for severe offenses, highlighting the administration’s zero-tolerance stance against unsafe driving practices.
On the occasion, ARTO said, “Our goal is to create a culture of safe and responsible driving across the district. Enforcement drives like these send a clear message that traffic violations will not be tolerated. I urge all drivers and commuters to follow road safety rules and cooperate with the authorities in ensuring safer roads for everyone.”
