KUPWARA: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Kupwara conducted a major enforcement drive today across multiple routes in the district, inspecting over 350 vehicles and imposing fines amounting to Rs.2.10 lakh for various traffic violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. During the day-long operation, enforcement teams inspected over 350 vehicles across key routes including KupwaraâLolab, KupwaraâTangdhar, KupwaraâSopore, KupwaraâSogam, KupwaraâKralpora, KupwaraâKalaroos, and KupwaraâHandwara.
The operation resulted in 116 vehicles being e-challaned, 35 vehicles blacklisted, and recommendations for suspension of 6 driving licenses and 3 route permits for serious violations including over-speeding, absence of helmets or seatbelts, lack of permits, and non-functional Speed Limiting Devices.
ARTO Kupwara informed that the drive was carried out as part of a statewide campaign directed by Transport Commissioner J&K, and that such enforcement actions will continue to promote road safety and rule compliance. The drive was supervised by ARTO Kupwara and executed by a dedicated team led by MVIs, AMVI and SMVI.
