JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir launched its “Jan Samvad” programme to take the fight against the failures of the NC-led government directly to the people, listen to their grievances and expose on the ground the growing gap between the National Conference’s election promises and its actual performance in government.
BJP MLA and former Health Minister Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, accompanied by Media Incharge Dr Pardeep Mahotra and Library Incharge Prof Kulbhushan Mohtra, addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, said that nearly two years of NC rule have left people deeply disappointed, frustrated and dissatisfied.
Dr Manyal said the NC government has failed on governance, failed on development and failed to honour its election commitments. “The National Conference made around 100 promises to the people during the elections, but after nearly two years, people are asking a simple question—where are those promises? The government has failed to deliver and its performance on the ground is nowhere near the expectations of the people,” he said.
He said the growing dissatisfaction is visible across every section of society, including youth, women, employees, traders, industrialists, farmers and senior citizens. Instead of addressing public concerns, the NC government has increasingly become disconnected from the ground realities, he alleged.
Dr Manyal said the decision to undertake Jan Samvad across all districts was taken by J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma (CA), Leader of Opposition in the J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma, and J&K BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, along with senior party leaders, to ensure that BJP directly hears the people and takes their voice to every appropriate forum.
The programme formally commenced today with LoP Sunil Sharma, accompanied by BJP Vice-President & former MLC Dr Shehnaz Ganai, District President S. Gurdeep Singh Khalsa, former MLC Pardeep Sharma and senior BJP functionaries, visiting Poonch for direct interaction with people and prominent representatives. The programme will first cover all districts of Jammu province and thereafter extend to Kashmir in a phased manner.
Dr Manyal said BJP leaders will engage representatives of every section of society and document their grievances, particularly those relating to roads, infrastructure, employment, power, water, development and public services. Referring to the continuing poor condition of roads damaged during the flash floods, he said public deputations are approaching the BJP with serious complaints regarding the slow pace of restoration.
“The NC government cannot hide its failures behind excuses. Jan Samvad will take the government’s report card to every district and bring the people’s report card before the public. BJP will become the strongest voice of the people and will relentlessly raise their issues both inside and outside the Assembly,” Dr Manyal asserted. He appealed to the media to publicize the Jan Samvad schedule so that maximum people can participate and directly place their grievances before BJP representatives.
