JAMMU: An encroachment eviction drive was today carried out in Co. 66/B (Raika) of Jammu Forest Division. As many as 17 kutcha and 3 pucca structures occupied mostly by Rohingya families were removed.

In this drive 150 kanal of forest land was retrieved by the Forest Department. The exercise was carried out under the direct supervision of DFO Jammu Anurag Arya. He led a joint team of the Forest Department and Forest Protection Force on the field. J&K Police and District Administration Jammu also provided support, making the exercise a success. The fresh eviction adds to the 4225 kanal already retrieved in Jammu Forest Division this year.

The action follows the encroachment eviction exercise being carried out under the overall supervision of CCF Jammu Dr. V.S. Senthil Kumar  which has seen the retrieval of over 68,000 Kanal of forest land  across the Jammu Province  since May 2026. Dr. V.S. Senthil Kumar has stated that the evicted land will be fenced with chain link fencing to reduce risk of re-encroachment and the same will be restored to proper forest use.
