  • Say no to drugs, opt sports: Zorawar appeals to youth

JAMMU: Junoon Cricket Club lifted the Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament title by defeating its rival Patoli Cricket Club in a closed contested final played here. The 20-day long tournament was organised by the EQUINOX ENTERTAINMENT in which 64 teams from the district participated.  Savan Singh from winning side with his fiery knock of 85 runs off 28 deliveries left the hundreds of spectators spellbound. He sailed his side towards victory.

Team Jammu Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed trophies and prize among the winner and runners up teams. The winning club was rewarded a cash prize of Rs 28,000 and trophy while runners up got Rs 12,000 with trophy. SP City North Vinod Kumar, Ex MLA Shiv Dev Singh, Sanjita Dogra also graced the occasion.

Mukul was declared man of the series and took home a cash prize of 5,000 along with a glittering trophy.  While speaking on the occassion, Zorawar lauded the organisors for naming the tournament in the name of last Dogra ruler, which is also a tribute to him. He remembered Maharaja Hari Singh and also threw light on his life history.

The Team Jammu chairman further appealed to youth to shun drugs and choose sports. "Sports not only gives you physical fitness but also keeps the mind healthy and helps in keeping all the evils away," said Jamwal. He asked youth to add sports in their regular routine as it helps in inculcating honesty, dedication and good thoughts for welfare of the society.

Later the organising committee presented mementoes to the dignitaries. Harish kotwal, Raul Parihar, Saksham Singh and Ashish Kotwal, Chairman, Equinox entertainment were also present on the occasion. The members assured that such tournaments will be orgsnised in future also. Ashish presented vote of thanks.
