- Asks women to prepare list of beneficiaries for skill development training in Horticulture
JAMMU: The Destitute And Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) organized Handholding and Nurturing programme for women beneficiaries of Nai Roshani scheme for Leadership Development of Minority Women of Ministry for Minority Affairs, Government of India at Battal, Udhampur. DAHWA President, S.S Sumbria along with the handholding staff visited Battal village, the camp location, and convened meeting with the scheme beneficiaries. The trained women evinced keen interest in identifying and taking up issues of their respective areas and highlighted a number of problems and demands they have analyzed.
The Nai Roshani women projected several issues including issuance of ration cards to left over people, lack of proper water supply, regular power supply, construction of road from Battal to Bazighar Mohalla, etc. It was decided in the meeting that these women will prepare and submit lists of women, to be provided skill development training in Horticulture by the concerned department, to DAHWA in the next meeting.
During the programme, the women were encouraged for formation of self help groups or mahila mandals/mahila sabhas of women in their surrounding areas to manage their issues in a better way for the good of their community. DAHWA has already formed Committees of these Nai Roshani beneficiaries to enable them identify and project their issues at the appropriate forum in an organized manner.
