JAMMU: Morning of 14th November 2017 was mesmerizing and scintillating at New Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib Premises as it witnessed the celebration of Children’s Day. The programme commenced with lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Mrs Neelam Mahajan, in presence of staff members. The tiny tots of the Pre-Primary wing had class parties and fun-filled games. The middle school celebrated Children’s Day by putting up a special assembly. They presented Children’s songs and a skit. The senior wing put up dances, rock back performances and medleys of songs to entertain everyone. The teachers too sang and danced to the tunes of some latest numbers.The programme began with prayer, dance and tributes to Chacha Nehru.

The Pre-Primary Wing (Nursery to I) and Primary Wing (II to V) students saw their own reflections on their stage in the form of their teachers who presented the thought, news, poem, speech and the new word for the day, a press release issued by the school stated. The special attractions were the puppet show, group dances and music; the huge applause by the students seem to further cement the bond between teachers and students, as the teachers reminisced about their childhood through their presentations. As kids were enthusiastic about celebrating Children’s Day, Tiny Tots wing of school organised cultural event to make the day special for them. Colourful programme was presented by both teachers and students.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal said that Children are adorable. They are like divine gifts that parents get from the almighty. Their eyes are full of innocence. They smile when they receive love and admiration, they cry when it is their first day at school away from their parents, they giggle when they mingle with their buddies, and they signify nothing but the pure and faithful love. They truly symbolise god.14th November is celebrated as children's day in all over India. 14th November is also the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of independent India. Childhood memories are sweetest of all. They can be savored for a lifetime. Children's day celebration is fun for the little ones but it is important for the parents too. Every parent must understand the importance of the children's day. Parents should be well aware about the little desires of their angels, she added.
