SRINAGAR: Mughal road was closed on Monday for any traffic movement following fresh snowfall and forecast for widespread rain and snow during the next 72 hours, a traffic police official said. Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only all weather road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was through for only way and down convoy has been allowed today and no vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction. 

The national highway, linking the Ladakh region with Kashmir valley, was also open to clear stranded vehicles from both sides of Zojilla. He said due to fresh snowfall on Sunday and forecast for fresh snowfall till November 14, traffic on the Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch has been suspended from today. No vehicle will be allowed from any side, he said, adding that last week when there was snowfall on the highway, over 1000 passengers and truckers, were rescued from the road, including at Pir-ki-Gali.
