During the course of the market checking inspections in the previous financial year, the department has booked 3651 traders at Petrol Pumps outlets, LPG Agencies, Kiryana Shops, Bakers etc who were found contravening the various provisions of Legal Metrology Act 2009 and a fine of Rs 1.79 Crores realized from them.
Further, 77 consumer complaints were successfully redressed in the interest of consumers. The Legal Metrology has also conducted the numerous consumer awareness camps during which consumers were apprised about their basic Consumer Rights and purchase of ISI mark products besides the importance of Hall Mark on the gold items.
