Speaking at the Inaugural function, Dr. Vikas Gupta, Director Handicrafts & Handloom, Jammu informed that 12 carpet instructors of Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Udhampur districts of Jammu division, are undergoing this training programme v from January 5, 2024 to enhance their skills, learn to make diverse and durable carpets and have firsthand knowledge of the latest developments made in this sector.
The training programme aims to make available a skilled workforce for carpet weaving who once trained shall serve as master trainers to further transfer the learned skill sets to the artisans in concerned areas. The Training programme is a step further to revive and revamp Carpet weaving in Jammu Division.
Lauding this initiative, Megha Baogia, Deputy Director (Planning) congratulated all instructors for this opportunity and suggested them to make the best of this training. She stressed that this training will enthuse the new vigour and innovation among the carpet instructors which will further revitalize the overall carpet weaving in the entire Jammu division. The inaugural ceremony ended with a round visit by dignitaries.
