- Seizes 51 vehicles & arrests 51 persons during first two months of year 2024
SRINAGAR: Police in its ongoing drive against illegal mining in Baramulla have registered 30 cases and arrested 51 persons for being involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals during the first two months of 2024. Moreover, 51 vehicles used in illegal transport of minerals which include 19 Tippers, 31 Tractors & an excavator has also been seized from different areas of the district.
Baramulla Police along with the Mineral Department realised fine in lacs for illegal extraction/transportation of minerals in the district. Police is committed to take action against violators who are taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally to the detriment of people health, the ecology and the revenue of the government. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
