SHOPIAN: In view of continuous and incessant rains during the last two days, a review meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner Shopian wherein SSP Shopian, Addl. SP, Dy. SP Headquarter, Dy. S.P DR, SHO Shopian in addition to Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Asstt, Commissioner Revenue Shopian and all District Heads of various departments participated. The rescue measures in case of emergency were discussed in detail and modalities were sorted out to meet up any eventuality and emergent situation arising out of continuous rains throughout the valley.

The Deputy Commissioner Shopian stressed upon concerted and coordinated efforts of all the departments and the Police to evolve mechanism for pushing up all possible help in case of emergent situation. The teams were also constituted comprising of Police, Revenue and Engineering Departments for all the Seven Tehsils who shall monitor the situation at Tehsil level and in case of any need arises the eviction and rescue operations shall be made available to the needy locations. Moreover, 24x7 Control Room was also established wherein representative of Revenue, police, Engineering Departments have been ordered to be present on full time basis. 01933-260987, 01933-261891, 01933-261312, 9419031117.  In addition to the teams constituted, the SSP Shopian assured that the teams of SDRF and Police Personnel have been kept in a state of readiness for meeting up any eventuality.  The Methodology and the proactive strategy of Irrigation & Flood Control by diverting the waters of various streams/khuls towards the main Rambi Ara Nallah in order to avoid loss to the life and property of the habituated area has been appreciated and the departments have been impressed upon to carry on the work in a coordinated manner for coming days.
